The recent fuel price hike has had a devastating impact on Nigerian University Students, as it is affecting not only their transportation costs but also straining on their access to electricity. The shortage of gas, a key fuel source for power generation, has led to frequent _epileptic_ power outages and reduced electricity supply on campuses. Students, who temporarily resulted into the use of improvised means are struggling to adequately study, barely engage in research works, and sometime find it difficult to complete assignments due to the lack of reliably steady supply of electricity. The situation is particularly dire in many universities with limited backup power systems, leaving students without access to basic necessities like light in the lecture halls, no water to wash or exercise laboratory practicals, and rationed internet access time, etcetera, to mention few. The recent unsteady price hike on fuel products across the country has made it difficult for students to commute freely at various Nigerian University campuses, and by extension making it challenging to attend exams and classes regularly. The tolling effect on transportation costs have increased significantly, making it hard for students to afford the journey to school expectedly daily to receive lectures or on other related activities. This hike in price has further compounded the situation, which has affected the university's ability to provide and as well maintain needed regular essential services like power generation, water supply and full use of school utilities. Nigerian university students are facing a cooking crisis as a gas shortage grips the nation. With many relying on gas-powered stoves and cooking elements to prepare their daily meals, the scarcity has left many rushing for alternative cooking methods, such as, firewoods, dust-stoves and electric cookers even at constant power supply outages. The shortage has deeply forced university food vendors to adopt and adapt on new services means, as some cafeterias struggle to cope with the lack of gas. Students are at the receiving end feeling the unbearable heat and finding it challenging to adapt to the new reality.
